Continuing Care Retirement Community Re-Opening Brings New Building, Amenities to Older Adults on Chicago’s North Side
CHICAGO, May 22, 2012 – The Admiral at the Lake, the new 31-story nonprofit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located on Chicago’s North Side with a 154-year history in the city, will officially open its doors mid-July for residents to begin moving into their new homes.
Offering 200 residential living apartments in a Lifecare community that also provides a full continuum of on-site long-term healthcare, The Admiral at the Lake provides unobstructed panoramic lakefront and city views from a variety of spacious, well-appointed apartment homes. The high-rise building features garden and rooftop terraces, restaurant-style dining and a variety of cultural, social and recreational activities including a library/resource center, creative arts studio, club room, theater and fitness center with heated indoor pool.
Located at Marine Drive and Foster Avenue just steps from Lake Michigan, the community already has 80 percent of the apartments reserved.
“The Admiral at the Lake is resident-focused living – we will have residents involved in as many areas of the planning and activities as possible,” says Glenn Brichacek, chief executive officer for The Admiral at the Lake. “From the former librarian who is organizing the bookshelves in the new library, to the famed artist who will line the hallways with works of art, this is a community driven by and for residents.”
The Admiral at the Lake employs a team of management, healthcare, culinary and environmental services professionals with decades of experience serving the older adult community. The Admiral at the Lake adds to its expertise in hospitality with an affiliation with Kendal – a nonprofit organization with a history of serving older adults through its 14 communities in seven states, and nationwide advocacy and education initiatives.
The Admiral at the Lake is a Lifecare community, meaning it offers the most comprehensive retirement plan for active residential living in Chicago and long-term care if ever needed. Lifetime access to assisted living, memory support care and skilled nursing is offered on the same campus in private accommodations so residents will never be forced to move away from their loved ones. The Admiral at the Lake’s nonprofit status allows all residents the security of a lifetime home, even in times of financial difficulty.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony to herald the opening is planned to take place in late July.
